Athans & Hogan represents both employers and employees in the area of employment law. Employment law involves counseling employers and employees. Employers often seek advice in regards to hiring, termination, employee manuals, and employment contracts. Employees seek counsel for legal disputes between employer and employee with respect to fair wages, discrimination, termination, employee benefits, and workplace safety. Employment disputes may also involve claims for breach of contract, defamation, tortious or intentional interference with contractual or advantageous relations, and violation of various state and federal statutes. Employment matters may include hearings at the Massachusetts Commission against Discrimination (MCAD) or at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and may involve appearances in state and federal court.
